Description
The Calvin Cycle was discovered by Melvin Calvin at the University of California in 1950. It is a repeating sequence of reactions which, after 6 iterations, builds up a single glucose molecule.
The light dependant reaction produces ATP and Reduced Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH+), which are transported into the fluid inside the stroma of a chloroplast, where the Calvin Cycle takes place. A simplified diagram of this process is shown here.
